Just getting started!
Hi Melissa--well we have a lot in common. My husband and I have both had our initial consult at St V's and also the psych eval. We are now awaiting the insurance approval. My BMI is also around 44 now and I want to lose around 120.
I am also a RN. This support here is awesome and I feel I "know" so many already even though I have just met 2 people personally which were Connie and Joe.
Guess we will ride that roller coaster together, OK??
Terry
Good Luck! The waiting seemed to last forever. Stay on top of your insurance company and you will probably get a more speedy response, that way you can get a surgery date in a timely manner. My surgery is at the end of the month, October 29th. It seemed like it took forever and now I barely have enough time to get everything done. I had my pre-op testing last Friday and I had my nutrition class Tuesday.
I would encourage you to go to the support group meeting before your surgery. I have gone to several and they have helped to set realistic expectations. I know that there will be a few bumps along the way but the end result will be well worth it. When you hear everyone say how much weight they have lost since surgery and what a positive impact it has had on their overall health it is exciting. Everyone has been so helpful and encouraging so go to the meetings.
